One of the hardest parts was selelcting the fabric! WAY too many choices.
The fabrics were so fun! We purchased the fabric for the girl's quilt but a very good friend donated the

material for the boy's quilt from her scrap closet. The cute fabric I am holding did not make the cut though...

The folks at Quilter's Paradise were amazingly patient with we non-sewers. When I explained the project details to the owner, they immediately agreed to give me a 10% discount!

Crossland Family - Fundraiser
Tom and Grandpa made and sold jerky which was a huge success, even getting calls at night to say how good it was and to order more. Needless to say thru all their work grandma forgot to take pictures even when Chantelle and I went to the quilting store last thursday to get the material I forgot the camera, but we got the material and it was shipped on Friday 26th. See you all the 16th.

Powers - Fundraising
Last year when my daughter was in fourth grade, she started a business called "Creepy Creatures". Josaleigh and 5 of her friends started to sew various "creatures" with material, buttons, and stuffing. They would make their creatures each day at school during breaks and also at home after school. They sold their creatures for $0.25 - $1.50. They earned over $100 from their business.
Their intention was to keep a small profit for themselves and then donate the rest of the funds. For several months they had been debating where to send the money. The girls liked this quilt project and voted to donate $29 of their earnings to the project.
Thank you girls!!!!!!!
So the total fundraising from the Powers family now is $314.
I have one more idea for fundraising that I hope to have time to complete before buying the materials this week. I'll keep you posted.

My second idea for fundraising was to tell out-of-town friends and family about the project and ask for donations. My family generously mailed me $100 in funds.
So the total raised so far is $285.

Fundraising has been going well!
My first idea was to simply ask friends and coworkers for donations. As a token of gratitude, they would receive 3 or 4 fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies. Who could resist?
So I left for work armed with a decorated collection box, flyers describing the project, and cookies. By the end of day 1 of fundraising I had raised $100 and paid back my cost of $10 for the cookies for a net $90.
I did the same project the next week for 1 day and earned an additional $95.
So the chocolate chip cookie project brought in $185 towards the quilts.
